SKIING IN WINTER ATHLETIC CONTESTS AMONG POLISH COLONY IN THE YEARS 1986- 2008
The world athletic contests among Polish emigrants in Poland have been organized since 1934. However, merely summer contests had been organized till the mid of the 1980s. In 1986 winter contests (in Zakopane) were initiated , which take place regularly every two years in Beskidy Śląskie. Representatives from twenty conglomerations of Polish emigrants abroad, coming from twenty countries all over the world, participate in it.
The programme of contest comprises several sports disciplines among which skiing contest and alpine skiing ( slalom) are very popular. In the recent years skiing programme enlarged into new disciplines i.e. carving and biathlon.
